Managing COPD with CKD?

  1. Thanks for reaching out! Have you spoken with your doctor about things you need to be concerned about when managing both these conditions? I don't have personal experience with this, but you may be interested in checking out our sister site, COPD.net. What type of information are you looking for? - Kat (Team Member)

    1. Yes..My Primary Care MD and I have a most wonderful relationship, as well as her primary nurse, and her primary Triage Nurse, who has DIRECT, IMMEDIATE contact with her..
We also have a Portal to use, where I can ask her questions, express any concerns, etc..
I currently have a ‘going on’ three week cold, which people with COPD
D R E A D, because it can often lead to a COPD EXACERBATION or flare up, which often leads to a hospitalization!!
I used my ‘COPD Toolbox), as used my ‘emergency’ inhaler, as well as multiples of Nebulizer Treatments, and these two tools, that help expand one’s lungs, helped me avoid a ‘flare up), but this cold, which my area here in Maine has had it’s share of, has been documented to go on for a month!!
      Acchhtt!!
Exhaustion is a huge part of it’s symptoms!!
I am now, also been going to Physical Therapy , a tale for another day, but overall I am unfortunately in excruciating pain, and awkward walking,, now with a cane!!
I see my Doc this Monday.

I apologize for my negative space in this writing Kat, but today is a miserably painful one..
Also, I need to shower and that is a huge hurdle to overcome, because of those other health issues..
If I am diagnosed with ONE MORE medical issue, I might just
      S C R E A M!!
      Seriously!!
Plus I haven’t been. Outside except for appts, not attended any of my 12 Step Recovery ❤️‍🩹 Meetings, which ALWAYS remind me and help me with
      A C C E P T A N C E, because that is all I can do, right??
      Doesn’t mean I like a situation, but …
I do so hope YOU are doing well Kat, and what a most lovely treat it was to see your name and I had a message..

      Peace
      Gabby

      1. Hey . Thanks for your response! I'm so sorry to hear that you're dealing with a cold! I hope it clears up soon and doesn't cause too many more issues! I hear how exhausted you are. Please don't feel the need to apologize for feeling negative. If anyone can relate to the fatigue that accompanies this disease, it's the folks in this community. You are absolutely not alone. Some days are harder than others and we just have to give ourselves grace to feel like crap. Like you said, acceptance is a game changer when it comes to living with chronic conditions!

I wanted to pass along this article to you. The author talks a lot about fatigue, especially when it comes to living with multiple conditions: https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/caregiver/body-fatigue.

I hope it helps! Please keep in touch. Take good care.
