Kidney transplant

On 6/15/25, I had a kidney transplant from a deceased donor. The kidney worked for 1 day, then I developed several blood clots in my lungs, resulting in my heart stopping twice. This process was extremely stressful, not just for me, but also for my family. It really took a village to get us through these challenging times. Coping with CKD and transplant is impacted by our emotional health, and my advice is to talk about how you are emotionally. If you are emotionally deficient, imagine how our family is, especially if they reside with you, such as your spouse and children. You CANNOT manage this disease by yourself.

  1. First of all let me just that that you have been through quite a journey - both physically and emotionally! It is such a blow when you get a procedure or new hope and then things end up taking a turn for the worse. I have experienced that myself after 40 years of chronic illness as well. One night in the hospital after a successful procedure that fixed something, I then suddenly had a huge heart attack. Thank God I was in the hospital already or they say... well... it wouldn't have been good. It was a blow, though, for sure. You are not alone in that and it DOES take a village! Consider us part of your village and vice versa! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
