Diagnostic Trend Question

Hello …. I am 69 post bilat TKR and 10 months post 2nd procedure 1 year apart.

After 2nd TKR … with what were GFRs previously in the normal range above 60…. I went into AKI with serum CR of 2.1….. it reduced in 72h to 1.3 and I was discharged.

Six months later I was measured at 1.4 with a Cysteine C value of 1.5 with A1C of 7 which is normally 6.2…….

Two month follow up yesterday resulted in A1C of 6.5 with Cysteine C of 1.7 . I have been on Farxiga for 2 months.

A review of the literature shows that there is a decrease in eGFR after taking Farxiga……. I have looked into the various calculators and applied the combination SerumCr and Cysteine C estimates.

What is your impression?
Please remember the TKR and I still have swelling going on….. inflammatory factors?

  1. Hey , I'm sorry to hear that things are so up and down and that you're experiencing swelling now. Getting the right balance of treatments can be extremely confusing and frustrating. I'm not an expert, nor do I have personal experience with this, so unfortunately I'm not able to give advice here. What has your doctor said? It sounds like you're paying attention and keeping track of your numbers which is important for your doctor to know! Have they given you any plan of action for fine tuning your treatment? They would probably be the best person to ask. - Kat (Team Member)
