Do you get any unsolicited advice about managing CKD?

I didn't realize that many people I know have CKD or at least people in my circle. They don't have a clue, but now they are all experts. I should be used to this because I have been getting unsolicited advice for decades. I always think to myself, do you have a clue what you are talking about? After a while, I only hear, blab! blab! blab! It's the people who know someone who knows someone who has what you have. Do they really care or do they just want to be in control?

Do you get unsolicited advice about managing your illness?

  1. Hi Diane,

I love this topic because as much as people want to think their advice is helpful, it can be harmful, as they aren’t the ones dealing with CKD. But when you say, do they want to be in control? how true this can be, especially from those closest to you, but I believe having a long-term illness like CKD, if it isn’t a professional opinion or someone who has CKD advice, other advice to say respectfully this doesn’t apply to me as much as I appreciate it. I wish I had done that from the start because it would have been a lot easier, but now I have to let it in one ear and out the other as I’ve had much advice, opinions and comments about CKD from health people that I have to remember we aren’t the same.

    Thanks, Sabad

    1. Hello , I can’t tell you how many times I just want someone to listen to me rant about my bad day. But people in my circle seem to think that this is their time to educate me. I'm sure you have run across people who believe they have the answer to all of your problems.

Yes, you are so right, let it go in one ear and out the other.
