CKD - Adrenal connection?

I was diagnosed with CKD and hypertension about 34 yrs ago. The doctors said it might be CKD causing hypertension or vice versa but they did not know the real underlying cause. They kept me on blood pressure tablets to maintain low blood pressure hence control kidney deterioration. I now have to take 3 blood pressure tablets. They also started me on Dapagliflozan 2 yrs ago; these have slowed down the CKD.
A few months ago, in a routine scan they spotted that I had benign lumps on my Adrenal glands. The Endocrine clinic took my blood tests for Cartisol and Aldosterone. Results came and they discharged me saying everything was ok. However, I am not convinced; are the Aldostrone results normal? Could the Adrenal glands have been the root cause all along causing hypertension and consequently CKD? The renal specialist has dismissed adrenal connection as irrelevant. They said Aldostrone has nothing to do with hypertension/CKD but I read that it has everything to do with blood pressure.
Results:
Plasma renin - 3.8 nmol/l/hr
Aldostrerone 1115 pmol/l
Cortisol following ONDST 30 nmol/l

Any opinions or advice on this?

  1. I have to admit we don't have much in the way of adrenal connection or Aldostrone related articles here, but hopefully some of our other community member can chime in with their experiences. Lupus, though, we do have some articles on that, like this one: https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/clinical/lupus-nephritis It definitely is not the first time we've heard people talking about connections and co-morbidities regarding Lupus. Hopefully that article helps and some of our members will add their thoughts to it. As always, if there's anything else we can do to help, please let us know! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
