CKD and Valacyclovir
I recently read that CKD patients should avoid/not take anti viral meds. I have CKD 3A. Are these meds prohibited for occasional oral herpes outbreaks? Because my outbreaks are infrequent (2-4 times per year) I didn't mention my Valacyclovir prescription to my Nephrologist which I now know was a mistake. Any experience/guidance on this would be appreciated as I woke up this morning with a outbreak and of course it's Saturday so not able to consult my Neph.
I'm sorry to hear you were experiencing an outbreak! Medications can be so tricky and confusing when trying to accommodate multiple conditions. I don't have experience with this, so I'm sorry I don't have any advice on this topic, but were you able to get ahold of your doctor?
