What do you wish others knew about life with chronic kidney disease?

If a person is not directly impacted by chronic kidney disease, as a person living with it or caregiving for someone who does, it's hard to understand what it's like and how CKD impacts many aspects of life. What do you wish others knew about life with chronic kidney disease? Please share your perspective with us!

  1. I wish others understood the fatigue it causes.

    1. I agree. The muscle weakness, pain and leg cramps get me. I was walking about, on flat ground for the most part, and my leg muscles hurt so much I thought I was going to fall.

    2. I have a "friend" who can't understand why I have to cancel plans last minute because of fatigue and pain. She said her father had CKD 40 years ago and he didn't have these problems. Each person is different. Just because I don't look sick, doesn't mean I don't feel sick.

  2. We hear you , it's so tough. How have you been doing lately? -Rachel (Team Member)

    1. I’m very tired and overwhelmed with all the information I’m getting.

      1. , there's a lot of information to take in. Please know the community is here for you if you ever need a place to vent or for support. Thinking of you, Minel (Team member)

      2. Thank you. 💛

    2. The diet that I have to be on. They just understand what I can not eat. And why

      1. , for sure! Diet is definitely a big topic and one that would be helpful to have more knowledge on. Thanks for chiming in! Best, Minel (Team Member)
