Has anyone had difficulty finding a Certified Renal Dietician?

There are many Registered Dietitians and very few Certified Renal Dieticians who have had specialized education for Chronic Kidney Disease people. I did find one who was in private practice but did not accept Medicare. I called her but she never responded to my calls. She was also very expensive.

  1. Hi , thank you for your question. I hope others can also chime in to share their experiences. That's frustrating to hear that the renal dietitian you reached out to was not very responsive. Have you had a chance to take a look at the renal dietitian directory that the National Kidney Foundation oversees? If you haven't already, there might be someone there who could be helpful to you: Best, Minel (Team Member)

    1. Thanks for your input. I have called and emailed several Renal Dieticians and I have not heard back from any of them. Unclear why.

      1. , ugh. I hope someone will get back to you soon. Not sure if you also used this directory, but here's another one by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: If you enter your state first, once you get the search results there's a filter option to filter by specialty (and also insurance). Please keep us updated, if you feel comfortable doing so. Warmly, Minel (Team Member)

    2. My nephrologist has a renal dietitian in his office your nephrologist should know I have to travel 2 hrs to see a renal dietitian they are hard to find

      1. Hi there! Thought I'd chime in as I have found a couple renal dietitian through social media. I follow their accounts for daily tips but I also know they offer 1:1 services which is extremely helpful.

I don't know about medicare or anything like that but worth having a look at ckd. dietian, kidneynutrition and plantpoweredkidneys.

I have followed these accounts for years, might could be worth a search! Hope this helps.
