Can you stay in stage 4 CKD for life

  1. Hi while in stage 4, your nephrologist will work with you to slow down the damage to your kidneys. There are many medicines and lifestyle changes that can preserve what kidney function you have left. The medicines you take will depend on what caused your kidney disease. Here is more information about this: https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/moderate-stage. I hope this is helpful. Jill (Team Member)

    1. Thankyou, I'm so Happy to find this Group..
My Primary Dr. Was giving me the wrong meds. For HBP, plus I was swallowing Advils as if they were Candy..
He never told me that I was in Danger when my GFR was 40, then 33, until a year later a Physician Assistant caught it but it was down to 22 ( Scary ) as you know when your in Stage 4, you can't go back to Stage 3 A or B, but I go up & down even as high as 29, so yes my Nephologist changed all my meds. 3 years ago & things are going well & of course Bye Bye Advils

      1. Hey , that must be frustrating to know that the doctor never caught it. Thank goodness for that physician assistant! I'm glad things are going well and you're off the Advils. So glad to have you here in the community 😀 - Kat (Team Member)

      2. , I think this is such a great question. My answer is yes. My father is 90 and has been in stage 4 for over 10 years. He gets up every morning takes a walk, eats right and still drives. Everytime he goes to the doctor, they just say whatever your doing, just keep doing it. Your doctors seem to have you on the right track. I also have CKD and had to do a lot of lifestyle changes. What was one of the biggest changes that you made? Stopping Advil was a big one. We hope to hear from you soon. Diane (Team Member)
