When Someone Tells You They Have Stage 1 Chronic Kidney Disease?

I've just recently learned about the different stages of CKD. I was on a Zoom call and someone mentioned they were stage 1. Everyone got quiet and was at a loss for words. I did speak up and commended them for catching this so early. However, he said that his GFR is 58, which is more than stage 1. I did tell him to see a kidney doctor if he wasn't already.

What questions would you have asked of this person? Any suggestions? Have you ever been told you have one stage and discovered it was something else? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)
