What Are The Cons Of Doing Dialysis?

I don't think I need dialysis any time soon, just curious about the cons. I know some of the the pros. I want to hear from dialysis patients about diet, labs and everything else. I see that a lot of people make it look cozy, but I know it's not that simple as it looks to be.

I have several chronic illiness to deal with on a daily basic. I am a senior citizens now. If the time comes, is it better for me to go to a center? I would like to hear what peoples thoughts are on this. Diane (Team Member)

  1. Why don't you like doing dialysis?
Treatment day and times are scheduled by the center.
You must travel to the center at least three times weekly.
Other people are doing dialysis at same time, so you have less privacy.
Loved ones can't be with you during treatment.
There may be rules against eating and drinking while on dialysis.

Can you add to this list? We would like to hear more from you. Diane (Team Member)

    1. Well where i am you can eat something while on dialysis and yes it is 3x a week and if you want someone with you you can have them i live in Ga.

      1. I can’t imagine loosing my mom at 19. My mom was such an important part of my life. She was my personal warrior always praying for me and gave sound advise. I can’t imagine the bad stuff she saved me from with her prayers. Your dad is amazing living with CKD at 90. What a hero he is!!! I don’t know if your egfr has gone down a little or a lot but 46 is good and I remember when I was up in the 40’s. I hope you are able to bring the numbers up. I keep trying to with my plant based diet and trying to remember to drink enough water. Some days I just don’t drink enough. Also, with the holidays I am cheating a lot more with all the sweets and other items I really should stay away from. It’s so hard to be good all the time. 🙈 Hope you have a fabulous Christmas. 2. , you are so kind. Thanks for all the kind words. Yes, moms are amazing. My kidney doctor told me to drink a lot of water. When I was told I had CKD, my numbers were in the 60's. I am going to do better with my diet. Sweets are my downfall too. Every day I have to have something sweet. You have a wonderful Christmas too. Diane (Team Member)
