Steps To Take With Stage 3 Kidney Disease

I was diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. I was told to make healthy lifestyle changes such as eating a kidney-friendly diet and drinking more water. I added in exercise and got to a healthy weight. This can slow the progression.

Is there anything you have done to try and slow down the progression of CKD? Have you found that these things are helpful at all?

  1. This was a awesome read.Thank you for the share.

    1. Hello , thanks for the reply. How are you doing? I'm 65 now and as the old saying goes, teaching an old dog new tricks is hard. Do you have any struggles in making changes? Diane (Team Member)

  2. I stay on a kidney healthy diet, but I am having trouble with portion control. Also, drinking 8 glasses of water a day just doesn't happen for me. I have very little thirst and have to force the water down.

    1. Hello , Thanks for replying. I also change my diet. As you know if you don't like doing something, you just aren't going to stick with it. For me, I loved food. I had to change the way I prepared it, not give it up. I'm not a water drinker either. I had this conversation with my doctor. He said he would be happy if I could at least get in 32 oz a day. (this is just for me) It has been a struggle, but I put a bottle of water in every room that I'm in and make sure there is always some in the car. So far so good.

Have you tried adding something to the water like lemon? Thanks for sharing. Diane (Team Member)
