How do you know you have it?

  1. Hello. I think you're asking how to know if you have CKD right? The diagnosis for CKD is done through blood work. They do a renal panel that will tell them your eGFR (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate which is a calculation that estimates how well your kidneys are filtering waste and extra water from your blood). They also look for other things like Creatinine. Creatinine is a chemical compound left over from energy-producing processes in your muscles. Healthy kidneys filer creatinine out of the blood. Creatinine exits your body as a waste product in urine. A creatinine test is a measure of how well your kidneys are performing their job of filtering waste from your blood. A measurement of creatinine in your blood or urine provides clues to help your doctor determine how well the kidneys are working. (mayoclinic.org)
So, the best thing to do, if you suspect something is wrong, is to ask you doctor to run a renal blood test and also a urinalysis.
Here is an article on diagnosing CKD. I hope this helps.
