Dyalisis

Can anyone tell me if there is any type of support group in Niagara Region Ontario? I just was told today that I need to start dyalisis treatment next week. Looking for people who have experienced this. Thanks. Jeff Weiler

  1. Hey Jeff, I'm so glad you reached out. Although I don't personally have connections in the Ontario region, I will say that you've come to the right place for support. The members here are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to CKD and dialysis, so you can at least use this as a last resort if you have trouble finding an in person community near you. I know receiving news that you need to start dialysis can be scary. Please know that we're here for you through the process. How are you feeling? What questions do you have? - Kat (Team Member)

    1. I have extreme swelling in my feet and legs. Feeling very sluggish and tired. Hopefully this will improve with the treatment. Overall I'm.just nervous and scared

      1. First of all, I just want you to know you are not alone in this. I know when you are diagnosed it can be scary and overwhelming, especially since people are asking you to make decisions about things you may not even fully understand yet. That's where we can help for sure - our community members and our site is full of great people and information such as https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/symptoms In addition, it really does help to be around and read about other people in your situation who are going through similar things. It makes you feel like those thoughts that inevitably come up that say, "is this really happening, or am I nuts?" are less silly. Why? Because chances are someone else has said the same thing to themselves when they experienced it. Chronic Kidney disease is a marathon, and it can be exhausting. Just know we are here to help however we can and sometimes it helps to just come and be around people who really understand what you are going through. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help in the meantime. Keep on keepin' on, DPM
