Curious

I have been told that my CKD is caused by my high blood pressure and my diabetes. But I have also read CKD may be caused by other things but nothing listed as what they may be. How can I be sure that is what mine is caused by?

  1. Hi , thank you for your question! Diabetes and high blood pressure are two of the most common causes of CKD. However, as you mentioned, there are also other causes of CKD. You may be interested in some of these resources: https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/causes, https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/diagnosis, & https://chronic-kidney-disease.net/diagnostic-tests. Some people may undergo different testing, such as a kidney biopsy to understand the cause of their condition. If you haven't already, it might be worth asking your doctor to get more personalized advice and information on your specific experiences. I hope you get some more answers soon. 1. Hello , Thanks for the great question. There are so many reasons why your kidneys can fail. I just think the top ones are high blood pressure and diabetes. My grandmother was 85 when she was diagnosed with CKD. She never had high blood pressure or diabetes as we know of. As patients, it's up to us to be our own best advocates. Have you contacted your healthcare team for more testing? Let us know what you find out. We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)
