It's been a long journey.

When I was 18, I ended up in the hospital after a UTI was misdiagnosed as the flu. Ended up being septic and spent 7 days on IV antibiotics. Found out years later that my right kidney grew after left one was damaged. Took lithium for over 20 years before realizing it was harmful. Then I was prescribed Aciphex when it first came out for acid reflux, only to learn later, it too causes renal problems.

Now I've been on home PD for a year and a half. Love the freedom of being able to treat my condition at home. It's been a journey I wouldn't recommend, but I'm thankful for my family's support. Now at 57, I'm hopeful for a transplant after trying to control my weight and eating healthier. Only time will tell God's will for me.
