What Are Your Kidney Friendly Breakfast Foods?

My husband and I both were diagnosed with CKD within months of each other. We both just retired in the last year. We have had breakfast together for 26 years. Of course, it consisted of foods we shouldn't eat.

I had to change our breakfast routine some. I switched to applewood smoked uncured bacon. I fixed our eggs with low-sodium cheese, onion, mushrooms, and green peppers. I did find a few herbs that added more flavor. My husband loves spicy, salty foods, so I had to be very creative. We are still in the learning process.

Can you share some recipes or foods that you have for breakfast?

  1. Is there any food that you have cut out completely from your diet?

    1. I've heard just egg whites are allowed.

      1. Hello , So good to hear from you. As you know, we are all different, so we have to follow our doctor's instructions. I can eat eggs and I fixed them so many ways. Do you just eat plain egg whites? I would like to hear more about your journey. Diane (Team Member)
