Why is it so hard to get in to see a Neuphroligest

  1. I am so sorry this disease is a hard one and then to have diabetes on top of it makes it even more confusing. Please, if you are not happy with the nephrologist you are seeing find another one. I wasted 7 years going to one that never spoke to me about diet, how much water to drink, exercise or anything that could have helped my kidneys slow the progression. It wasn't until I was one point away from stage 4 that I wised up and did some research on my own. I started a plant focused diet and changed my number to get better. I cut back on the animal protein I eat and helped my protein spill go from 500 to 150. I also take Lisinopril 5mg which has helped my numbers also. Now Lisinopril can increase your creatinine numbers so be aware of that. If your insurance covers a certified renal dietitian then I would certainly find one that is pro plant based diet. It has been proven that a plant based diet helps slow the progression of kidney disease. At this egfr you need a dietitian to help you eat the right things at the level you are. Please look into this. If you can't find a certified renal dietitian in your area there are a few on Facebook and Instagram who are certified renal and are good. I've used one of them before. Let us know how you're doing and if you change doctors and find help with a dietitian. Thank you and keep up the fight kidney warrior. Cindy Barton (Team Member)

    1. Thank you so much It's great to have people to talk to who understands ❤️❤️❤️

      1. You are so welcome anytime and let us know how you are doing we do really care because sometimes nobody knows what we are going through but each other, right? Cindy Barton (TM)

    2. Apparently they are few and far between. Yes it took 3 months before I got my first appointment with a nephrologist. Second apt next month. These docs are in high demand are we don't have enough to handle the amount of folks with CKD. And from what I have seen so far they don't seem to worry about you unless your at least stage 4. I think this jax to do with too many folks are there already so anything less than stage 4 gets kinda shoved to the side. You have to say hey wait ain't this supposed to be a serious condition, because they don't consider it as such until the kidney is definitely failing. It's like it's not an issue unless you are nearing a completely failing kidney. At least that what I see.

      1. I agree Cindy. When you dont know, you just do stupid things. I researched and was so surprised what I did not know to do to save my life. Ugh. I too am on Vegies and fish, chicken in small doses and NO fats, No junk or processed foods. With out researching you dont know.Im not better because it worst over time but Im still here.

      2. Indeed still being here is worth it all. I keep hoping that maybe my number will go up eating the plant based diet. I've been stable in stage three the last year so I guess I've got to be happy with that. I just have read so may stories of a fast drop to stage 4. I will keep on fighting this fight until it's over that's the best I can do. I hope you can level out and become stable and secure in your stage and not progress further. Let's just hangout at the numbers we are at! lol Have a good week. Cindy Barton (TM)
