Can you share a meal that you have with CKD?

Diet seems to be what the doctors focus on a lot when we have CKD. This is my first meal of the day. 2 cups of coffee, sometimes 3 with sugar-free creamer, english muffin with cream cheese, and some sort of fruit like grapes or apples.

What is a kidney-friendly meal you can share with us? We would like to hear from you. Diane (Team Member)

  1. I am a meat and potato person. What is your go to so that you don't have these cravings?

    1. my breakfast choices are steel cut oats made with almond milk add in chopped pecans and dried tart cherries and a little bit of brown sugar. Organic Cheerio like cereal with almond milk and fresh berries, Dave’s Killer Good Seed bread with 1/4 avocado, Dave’s Killer bagels with Kite Hill plant based cream cheese, Dave’s Killer English muffins with A little butter and Sprouts mango pineapple spread. If I’m having animal protein for one of my two days I have animal protein, I will have a fried egg with toast or french toast with maple syrup.

    2. Hello , WOW!! I loved this. These different foods sound so wonderful together. My breakfast this morning was the oats with almond milk, pecans, cherries and brown sugar. This was absolutely delicious. Can't believe I have been missing out on this. Thanks for sharing. So has changing your diet made a difference with your CKD numbers? Diane (Team Member)

  2. Hey Diane. This is Cindy. I’m glad you enjoyed the steel cut oat recipe I shared. I’m not sure why it didn’t use my name instead of the old community member number. Hope you have a blessed week.

    1. Hello , You have a blessed week too. Diane (Team Member)

  3. interesting topic

    1. Hello , I hope you are doing well and happy that you found this topic interesting. There is so much to eating right when you have CKD. Is there anything you eat that you can share with the community? Diane (Team Member)

    2. good morning! Can you share with us what your go to breakfast choices are?

I’m struggling with gout attacks. I need to get a handle on what foods are high in purines and which are low and eat accordingly. I don’t want to take the prescription drug that helps to prevent it and I don’t want to have to take steroids to get over the flare up. Dang I just hate taking drugs.

  4. For individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), a renal-friendly meal might include grilled chicken breast, steamed vegetables, and a side of quinoa, providing balanced nutrition while adhering to dietary restrictions.

    1. Hello , thanks for sharing. Chicken and veggies are my favorite meals. I loved bananas and grapes, but because I was so greedy I had to stop them for a whole. Is there anything you do to crave sweets? They were making my diabetes numbers go up. Diane (Team Member)
